Berkshire Hathaway is the diversified holding company built by Warren Buffett, spanning insurance, railroads, energy, manufacturing and consumer brands, alongside one of the largest equity portfolios in the world. Its insurance float and decentralised structure have made it one of the most successful compounding vehicles in corporate history. Berkshire famously pays no dividend, preferring to retain and reinvest all earnings where management believes it can create more value per share than shareholders could on their own. Capital is instead returned selectively through buybacks. Income investors will find nothing here. The stock is a pure long-term compounding story, which is why its dividend score sits in the lower-middle range.
