Renault, based near Paris, is one of France's largest carmakers, spanning the mainstream Renault and Dacia brands and its long-standing alliance with Nissan and Mitsubishi. After a deep restructuring it has focused on more profitable models and electric vehicles through its Ampere unit, in a fiercely competitive European market. Renault suspended its dividend during the pandemic and restructuring and has only cautiously restored it as profits returned. As a cyclical carmaker facing the costly electric transition, the payout is young and depends on the turnaround holding, so income is a secondary attraction.
